Moleskin, the choice of a French fabric
Moleskin comprising cotton is a
tight-weave technique performed in
France. Its unique weaving method is what produces its appearance of “
shorn velvet”. Some compare it to the look of mole fur. That’s where the name comes from, incidentally: Mole Skin. Besides its unique look, it is incredibly hard-wearing which makes it an ideal choice for
making work clothes. Incidentally, this French fabric has often been compared to a well-known American fabric -
Denim.
